Hello Ross Community!
I'm beyond grateful to be teaching at Ross School. Exploring the world of art with our K-8th grade students is an absolute joy. I’m passionate about empowering students to gain independence and discover their unique artistic voice. I believe in the importance of connecting social and emotional learning to art, helping students express themselves while developing collaborative skills and valuing the voices of others. I aim to create a studio space where every student feels welcomed, valued, and appreciated for their individuality and creativity. My interest in art started at an early age and has only grown stronger over time. I was inspired to pursue art education because of two incredible art teachers I had in elementary and middle school in Newtown, CT. This led me to study Art Education and Special Education at the University of Vermont. Maintaining a personal creative practice is important to me. I work out of Compound Gallery in Emeryville where I explore a variety of mediums including drawing, painting, printing, and ceramics, with a recent focus on quilting and garment making. Please don't hesitate to reach out, I love hearing from you. Warmly, Elisa Van Buskirk (Miss VB) |
